RTL-SDR dongles were originally designed for DVB-T HDTV reception,but they were found by hardware hackers to be useful as a general purpose SDR.
Recommended 2M off the ground, far from obstructions. Place as you would a standard rain gauge. There can be no obstructions normal to the sensor.
